Our Vision & Mission

THE VISION OF CALVARY INDEPENDENT CHURCH

Our Vision is to love the Lord our God with all our hearts and with all our souls and with all our minds and to love our neighbors as we love ourselves (Matt. 22:37-39); to love one another as Christ loves us (John 13:34); to live a life empowered by the Holy Spirit; to grow in grace and mercy through our worship, fellowship, discipleship, ministry, and evangelism; to promote a spirit of unity and to live in peace with all people in harmony with God's Holy Word--the Bible-- until He comes.

THE MISSION OF CALVARY INDEPENDENT CHURCH

As a part of the body of Christ, our mission is to lovingly lead people to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and to faithfully follow Him by developing habits that are beneficial for spiritual growth. Examples of such habits would be:

  • Involvement in a small group Bible study

  • Regular attendance at church services

  • Daily reading of the Bible

  • Private and family devotions

  • Sharing of Christ with others

  • Use of our spiritual gifts and talents in ministry for the building up of the Body of Christ

  • Sharing of the message of Christ to the world

Parents are urged to teach and nurture the spiritual life of their children. (John 10:10, Philippians 2:1-11, I Corinthians 12:7, Ephesians 4:11, Ephesians 6:4, Mark 8:34-35, Mark 10:42-45, I Peter 4:10-11).

Our mission is to remember each other in prayer, to aid each other in illness and times of discouragement, and to be gentle in speech and slow to anger (Acts 2:42; James 1:19, 5:14-16).  Our mission is to encourage the systematical giving of a portion of income for the support of the Church according to the principles of I Corinthians 16:2, II Corinthians 9:7, Genesis 14:20(b), and Proverbs 3:9.  Our mission is to encourage members to pursue Christ-like living as an "example in speech and conduct, in love, in faith, in purity" (I John 2:15, Romans 12:1,2, I Timothy 4:12).  Each member is expected to avoid any word or deed that may be harmful in its influence on other believers (Romans 14:13,21).

OUR FAITH

  1. The Bible: We believe the whole Bible from Genesis 1:1 to Revelation 22:21, consisting of the 66 Books, that is, the Old Testament and New Testament, as the verbally inspired and infallible Word of God, inerrant in the original writings, and the supreme and final authority in faith and life.

  2. God: We believe in one God, Creator of Heaven and earth and of the whole universe, and that He exists and manifests Himself to us in three Persons, the Father, the Son, and The Holy Spirit.  We believe in Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, the Eternal Word manifested in flesh.  We believe that He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary, and that He is the true God and true man, being the Son of God and God the Son.  We believe in the vicarious, substitutionary and redeeming death of the Lord Jesus Christ, that He died for our sins according to the scriptures.  We believe that He ascended into Heaven where He now sits at the right hand of the throne of God, the Father Almighty, to make intercession for us.  He only is the Great High Priest, and we need not the intercession of any man, in that Christ lives forever to make intercession for us. We believe in His personal, imminent and premillennial return for His redeemed ones; which will be first the rapture of the believers, both living and dead, to be followed later by His personal coming in glory to judge the rebellious and to establish His Millennial Reign.  We believe in the Holy Spirit, in His personality, that He is God.  We believe that His work is to convict men of sin: to regenerate, indwell and set the believer apart to a holy life: to keep and empower the believer day by day.  We believe that He is the Teacher of God’s Word and the Guide for the daily life.

  3. Man: We believe that he, having been created pure and in the image of God, is by his own sin fallen from grace, and in consequence, all have sinned, are guilty and lost and absolutely incapable of saving themselves by their own works, being dead in their trespasses and sins.

  4. Salvation: We believe that we are saved solely: by grace, through faith in the Blood Sacrifice, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.  We believe in the eternal security and everlasting blessedness of the saved, and the eternal judgment and punishment of all who reject our Lord Jesus Christ: "this is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire" (Rev. 20:14-15).

  5. Satan: We believe that Satan is a person, the author of the fall, and that he shall be eternally punished.

  6. Resurrection: We believe in the bodily resurrection of all men, the saved to eternal life, and the lost to judgment and everlasting punishment.

  7. Lord’s Supper: We believe that Jesus Christ instituted the Lord’s Supper to commemorate His death until He comes, and we as believers in His atoning work for us should be present at all communion services of this, our church.

  8. Baptism: We believe that water baptism is a symbol of the believer’s union with Christ in His death and in His resurrection.  We believe that it should be the duty of every believer to be baptized publicly that he make a public confession of his faith and belief in the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ.

  9. The Church: We believe that the Church of Jesus is composed solely of those who have been redeemed and washed in His blood, and regenerated and sealed by the Holy Spirit, and that they are saved to serve.  That it is the responsibility and privilege of all who are saved to seek to win others to Christ, to the "uttermost part of the earth", that they must seek to live a holy life, to separate themselves from, and forsake all, that might dishonor God or cast discredit on His cause, or weaken their testimony.
