Dear Calvary Church Family,

The Official Board was informed Wednesday, November 19th following AWANA that a person who attended Sunday morning service and the evening shoebox packing tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.  We have called all those who we know did come into contact with that person, according to C.D.C. guidelines.  This includes those who were closer than 6 feet for a total of fifteen minutes.  We have confirmed that the person who tested positive kept their mask on the whole time and often used hand sanitizer.  Please know that in addition to masks, social distancing, and hand sanitizer, the church building has been sanitized after each service.  Pastor Chuck sanitized (using a fogger) the fellowship hall prior to the Sunday evening shoebox packing party, and also on Monday.  We have been using a fogger for the past few week with approved COVID-19 disinfectant.

The Official Board discussed the probability of someone testing positive inside the building and discussed plans months ago to quarantine for two weeks if that became a reality.   So out of extreme caution, the Official Board is closing the building Sunday, November 22nd and 29th as well as all weekly church activities for those two weeks.  This includes the Thanksgiving Eve service, and AWANA on December 2nd.  The plan is to reopen on Sunday, December 6th.  O.C.C. has been given the approval to remain open unless a current worker begins to show symptoms in accordance with Samaritan’s Purse directives.  Pastor Chuck will provide a Sunday sermon on Facebook and make it available on the church website.

The Official Board commends everyone for how diligently we worked together to minister in so many ways during these difficult days.  We are not disheartened but rejoice in God’s provision in the past as well as in the future.  We do encourage everyone to practice safety measures (social distance, wear a mask, wash hands, and stay at home if you are not feeling well) during this time of quarantine.

“Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16, NIV).

Pastor Chuck is reminding Ministry teams that they were formed for just such a time as this.  Every team, beginning with the Elders and trustees, needs to reach out to those under their care.  Please be diligent in connecting, encouraging and ministering.  Also, I am asking each member and attendee to reach out to others during this time.  Let’s work together to fellowship and minster as a local church of Jesus Christ.

“Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”” (Matthew 28:18–20, NIV)

On behalf of the Official Board,

Pastor Chuck
